Malmö Arab Film Festival Showcases 45 Films

The Malmö Arab Film Festival, held annually in Sweden, has announced the program for its thirteenth edition, which will kick off at the end of April, featuring 45 films from 12 countries and a special tribute to artist Hussein Fahmy. The festival, founded in 2011 by Palestinian director Mohamed Keblawi, stated in a press release: "The selected films are divided into 18 feature films and 27 short films."

The official competition comprises 12 films, including the Egyptian film (19 B) by director Ahmed Abdullah Said, the Saudi film (Song of the Crow) by director Mohammed Al-Suliman, the Tunisian film (Under the Tree) by director Areej Al-Sahiri, and the Palestinian film (Flag) by director Firas Khoury.

The jury for this competition consists of Tunisian producer Tawfiq Qiqe, Egyptian actress Hana Shiha, Macedonian critic Marina Kostova, Lebanese actress Nada Abu Farhat, and Jordanian Muhannad Al-Bakri, director of the Royal Film Commission of Jordan.

The short films competition includes 17 films from Egypt, Sudan, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Palestine, and Tunisia. The remaining films are distributed across the programs (Arab Nights), (Films Worth Watching), (School Screenings), (Family Films), and (Voices Heard), along with a special program for short Saudi films.

The festival will open on April 28 with the screening of the film (Mediterranean Fever) by Palestinian director Maha Haj, which has won numerous awards at Arab and international festivals in recent months.
