Olympic Games sponsors for Paris 2024 announced today, Monday, that "famous chef Alexandre Mazzia has been selected as part of the group of Olympic torchbearers, leading a group full of stars and celebrities during the torch relay, with the city of Marseille being the first stop on French soil." Mazzia, who settled in Marseille in 2010, earned three Michelin stars in 2021 in recognition of the high standards at his restaurant "AM." Michelin is the renowned restaurant guide worldwide.
Also selected among the 11,000 torchbearers is former world champion in the 110-meter hurdles, Ladji Doucouré, alongside French rugby player Anthony Gélonch, Christian Karembeu, who won the FIFA World Cup with France, and Sara Ourahmoune, the silver medalist in boxing at the 2016 Olympics. The first torchbearer following the lighting ceremony in Olympia, Greece, the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games, will be Greek Olympic rowing champion Stefanos Ntouskos.
