The Detained Plane in France: What Happens to Its Passengers?

A local official indicated on Saturday that "approximately 300 Indian citizens aboard a plane that was prevented from taking off in France, under suspicion of human trafficking, are receiving care in the airport lounge in the Marne region of the country while an investigation is underway." A spokesperson for the Marne governor's office stated that "emergency services in the area have set up temporary beds for the stranded passengers, totaling 303, and provided them with restrooms and shower facilities, as well as meals and hot beverages at Vatry Airport." The statement added that "officials from the Indian consulate are regularly visiting the passengers." The Marne governor's office announced on Friday that "the Romanian airline flight (Legend Airlines) landed at Vatry Airport on Thursday for technical stops while en route from Dubai, at which point French police intervened." It added, "A judicial investigation has been opened regarding the circumstances of the flight and its purpose, and a specialized unit in organized crime is investigating the suspicion of human trafficking."
