Maritime Authority Receives Reports of Drone Explosion Near Ship off Yemen

The British Maritime Trade Operations (BMTO) announced that "multiple reports came in about a drone flying at a low altitude over a ship off the coast of Yemen before it exploded 1.5 nautical miles from the vessel." The statement noted that "authorities are investigating the incident which occurred approximately 50 nautical miles west of Hodeidah, Yemen," adding that "ships are advised to exercise caution while transiting." In a related context, the authority stated that "investigations are underway regarding a shipping-related incident that took place about 50 nautical miles west of Hodeidah, Yemen," and reiterated that "ships should exercise caution while transiting." Earlier, the BMTO revealed that it "received a report about an incident in the vicinity of the Bab al-Mandab Strait, about 45 nautical miles southwest of Salif, Yemen." The statement highlighted that "authorities are conducting an investigation and guidance has been issued for ships to proceed with caution during transit."
