Ministry of Public Works Continues to Address Landslides of Soil and Rocks

Teams from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport have been working to remove soil and rock landslides that occurred on several public roads in various Lebanese districts. The media office of the caretaker Minister of Public Works, Ali Hamieh, reported that their teams swiftly responded to the roads affected by landslides and debris in many Lebanese districts (Shouf, Donieh, Aley, Jbeil) and worked continuously over the past two days to clear the soil, rocks, and obstacles that had slid onto these roads, as requested by Hamieh.

The office continued in a statement: “The Ministry of Public Works and Transport points out that some roads have, as a result of the above, become impassable and pose a danger to users, despite the removal of the obstacles, since they have been damaged in a way that makes them non-operational and requires complete rehabilitation. This necessitates the concerted efforts of several concerned parties to secure the necessary funding to accomplish this, noting that the ministry has already begun preparing studies for some hazardous landslides to start executing them upon securing the required budget.”
