The Integrity Commission announced today, Monday, that it has caught one of the accused red-handed committing a bribery crime in exchange for dropping a complaint filed against a citizen. The Commission's investigation department stated in a statement: "Immediately after receiving information about an employee in the security apparatus blackmailing a citizen and asking for a bribe from him to drop a complaint against his father, the Baghdad Investigation Directorate formed a work team."
The team from the Baghdad investigation directorate, after obtaining a judicial order and gathering information, set up a tight ambush for the accused, where he was caught red-handed receiving the bribe in one of the neighborhoods of the capital, Baghdad.
It was noted that "the accused negotiated with a citizen and demanded a financial amount in exchange for dropping the complaint concerning the violation by the complainant's father against the checkpoint that includes the accused as one of its members and preventing them from performing their duty." It further highlighted the organization of a proper arrest record for the operation to be presented with the accused and the seized evidence to the competent investigation judge to determine his fate.
