Yesterday, the head of the Marada Movement, Sleiman Frangieh, attended a dinner invitation hosted by former leader of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, at his home in Clemenceau, in a family setting from both sides. A statement from the "Progressive" indicated that the discussions revolved around "various public matters."
Sources monitoring the relationship between the Socialist Party and Marada, as reported by "Nidaa al-Watan," noted that Jumblatt wanted the meeting to signify his presence and assert that he is part of the political scene. It sends a message to Hezbollah stating that he is open to everyone, including its presidential candidate, but without changing his position. For Frangieh, it is in his interest to place himself in the picture, emphasizing that his chances are real and strengthened amid the ongoing distraction war.
The dinner, amidst local attention it attracted, seemed to represent a "salad" plate, incorporating, in addition to family relations, a mix of presidential affairs and military institution matters, particularly regarding the appointment of a Chief of Staff, but without any substantial "fat" represented by actual results.
