Army: 786 People Arrested in January

The following statement was issued by the Army Command - Directorate of Guidance on Monday: "As a result of the security measures taken by army units in various Lebanese regions during January 2024, 786 individuals of different nationalities were arrested for involvement in various crimes and offenses, including drug trafficking, theft, smuggling, possession of weapons and banned items, and roaming within Lebanese territory without valid residency. Additionally, some individuals were caught driving vehicles and motorcycles without legal documents, and several attempts at illegal human smuggling were thwarted. The confiscated items included 71 military weapons of different types, 14 hand grenades, quantities of light and medium ammunition, several vehicles and motorcycles, as well as a quantity of drugs, materials intended for smuggling, and several communication devices. The detainees, along with the confiscated items, were handed over to the competent authorities for necessary actions."
