The Minister of National Defense, Maurice Sleem, issued a decision numbered 1738/WD regarding the suspension of firearm carry licenses throughout Lebanese territory. The decision states:
"Article One: The effect of firearm carry licenses is suspended throughout Lebanese territory, starting from December 28, 2023, at zero hour until further notice.
Article Two: The provisions of Article One above are exempted for:
A- Diplomatic firearm carry licenses (purple model)
B- Official firearm carry licenses (orange model)
C- Firearm carry licenses granted to the escorts of current and former ministers, deputies, party leaders, and religious leaders only when they are accompanying the individual.
Article Three: Any violation of the provisions of this decision will expose the offender to severe penalties, particularly judicial prosecution.
Article Four: This decision shall be published in the media, and the leadership of the army is tasked with strictly enforcing its provisions and referring violations to military judiciary."
