Messi Scores for the Third Consecutive Match with Inter Miami

Lionel Messi found the net for the third consecutive match with Inter Miami during a 3-1 victory over Orlando City, leading his team to the Round of 16 in the U.S.-Mexican Leagues Cup last night.

The start of the match was delayed by 95 minutes due to a thunderstorm, and Messi needed little time after the whistle to give his team the lead in the seventh minute.

The Argentine star initiated an attack from midfield, passing the ball to Robert Taylor, who lifted it over several defenders for Messi to chest it down and then fire a shot directly into the net from close range.

Orlando equalized ten minutes later through Uruguayan midfielder Cesar Araujo, but Miami regained the lead three minutes into the second half with a penalty taken by Joseph Martinez.

Messi, unmarked, wrapped up a counter-attack with another close-range shot into the net in the 72nd minute.

This marked Messi's fifth goal in three matches, following his goals against Cruz Azul and Atlanta United in the group stage of the tournament that features clubs from the U.S. and Mexico.
