"Fatah" and the Palestine Liberation Organization Urge Not to Fall for Rumors

Following the severe security tension in the Ain al-Hilweh camp in Lebanon and the failure of mediation efforts to establish a permanent ceasefire, the media office of "Fatah" movement and the Palestine Liberation Organization in Lebanon issued a clarifying statement regarding the rumors circulating on social media to exacerbate the atmosphere in Ain al-Hilweh camp. The statement said: "There are discussions on social media attributing remarks to Fatah Secretary and factions of the Palestine Liberation Organization in Lebanon, Fathi Abu al-Ardat, suggesting that our demand is to hand over the terrorist murderers to Lebanese justice, otherwise military options are on the table. The media office categorically denies that this phrase has been uttered by Fathi Abu al-Ardat."

The media office called for "care in news reporting, as Abu al-Ardat and the leadership of the "Fatah" movement and factions are committed to the statement issued yesterday, Thursday, calling for the handover of those wanted to Lebanese authorities." The media office and the Palestine Liberation Organization appealed to "our people's masses, especially our families in Ain al-Hilweh camp," urging them "not to heed or be drawn into these rumors fabricated and disseminated by suspicious voices that are displeased with the factions and Palestinian national and Islamic forces reaching a stable ceasefire and working to create suitable conditions for the return of displaced families to the camp."
