The Interior Ministry in Georgia reported that a gunman killed four people and injured another on Friday after opening fire in a market in the city of Rustavi, located 20 kilometers from the capital Tbilisi. The ministry stated in a statement that the gunman has been arrested, noting that one of the deceased and the injured is a relative of the shooter. Incidents of gunfire are relatively rare in Georgia; however, in January 2023, a former soldier killed five people and injured five others by shooting from his apartment balcony before committing suicide.
