Nineteen people were killed and 22 others injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a freight truck in Sinaloa state in northwest Mexico, according to local authorities. The collision, which resulted in the complete burning of both the bus and the truck, occurred in the Elota area, a popular tourist destination for Canadians and Americans. The Attorney General of Sinaloa, Sara Quinonez, stated, "We have counted 19 bodies. Identifying them will take some time due to the charred state." She added, "As soon as we have information on the deceased, we will share it, along with details regarding the individuals who died in the hospitals." The bus had departed from Guadalajara and was headed to Los Mochis in Sinaloa, which is also known as a stronghold of drug trafficking gangs in Mexico.
