The Ceasefire in Sudan Ends and Clashes Resume

With the end of the ceasefire this Wednesday morning, the atmosphere in Sudan witnessed military aircraft sorties over Omdurman, prompting the Rapid Support Forces to fire their ground anti-aircraft weapons in response. Intense clashes erupted in the Engineers area and Fatahiyab neighborhood in Omdurman, as well as in the city of Delong in South Kordofan, between the army and the Popular Movement forces led by Abdel Aziz al-Hilu. On the last day of a ceasefire that was largely adhered to in Khartoum since Sunday, a fire broke out on Tuesday evening at the intelligence headquarters in the capital. A source in the army indicated that the Rapid Support Forces "bombarded the building," violating the 72-hour ceasefire that was supposed to end Wednesday at 06:00 local time (04:00 GMT). A source from the Rapid Support Forces responded by stating that "an army drone bombarded the building where Rapid Support Forces personnel had gathered," noting that the attack "resulted in a fire and partial destruction of the intelligence headquarters."
