Title: Israel Declares State of War

The Israeli cabinet announced today, Sunday, the official declaration of a state of war in the country due to attacks by Hamas that resulted in the deaths of approximately 600 Israelis and over two thousand injuries. Netanyahu's office stated: "The political-security cabinet approved the state of war last night, thus authorizing significant military operations in accordance with Article 40 of the Basic Law of Government." It added: "The war imposed on the State of Israel began with the deadly terrorist attack from the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, at 06:00." For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant revealed that "we are preparing to evacuate settlements near the Lebanese border," and he instructed to supply areas adjacent to the Gaza Strip with weapons. Netanyahu appointed Brigadier General Gal Hirsch to be responsible for the file of kidnapped and missing persons.
