Yassin: We Are Working to Preserve Forest Wealth

The Minister of Environment in the caretaker government, Nasser Yassin, emphasized "exerting all efforts to preserve the forest wealth in Lebanon, to protect the health and safety of the Lebanese people from pollution in villages, towns, and cities." During his visit to one of the forests in the Nahr el-Hammam area in the town of Daria, he was informed about a cleaning campaign launched by a group of youth and several volunteers in the villages, stating that "the forest and nature are not just for beauty, but they absorb all pollutants and protect us from climate change."

Yassin praised the "role of the youth of the Daria Youth Group in caring for the environment," focusing on "the significant role of young people in this field and their great impact," confirming "the continuation of the campaign throughout the summer to protect all of Lebanon's forests, woods, rivers, and natural resources."

He then moved, accompanied by environmental activist Ghazi Issa, to the town of Al-Zaarouriya, where he learned about weeding efforts along the main road of the town toward Mazraat al-Dahr, expressing hope that "these works would reduce the risk of fires." He warned that "the heat wave brings fear and concern for forests and woodlands," announcing "the work in all directions that can keep fires away from our forests."
