Iraq Opens Doors for Cooperation with Lebanon to Combat Corruption

The head of the Federal Integrity Commission in Iraq, Haider Hanoun, confirmed the importance of communication and cooperation between similar institutions in Arab countries, expressing the commission's readiness to sign a memorandum of understanding with the National Anti-Corruption Commission in Lebanon.

The commission stated that "Hanoun met with Lebanese Ambassador Ali Al-Habhab at the commission's headquarters." During the meeting, Hanoun highlighted "the significant openness of the Iraqi government towards its Arab brothers," clarifying that "this contributes to the development of political, economic, cultural, and social relations between them."

He emphasized "the necessity of coordination and joint efforts in the area of combating corruption and working to overcome obstacles in this regard through memorandums of understanding and bilateral relations." Hanoun expressed his "happiness with the signing of memorandums of understanding with several similar agencies in Arab countries."

He also showed "the Federal Integrity Commission's readiness to sign a memorandum of understanding with the National Anti-Corruption Commission in Lebanon in the field of preventing and combating corruption."

For his part, Lebanese Ambassador Ali Al-Habhab confirmed "the readiness of the Lebanese embassy in Baghdad to eliminate all obstacles that may hinder cooperation between the two parties in combating corruption," noting that "the cooperation between the Iraqi Integrity Commission and the Lebanese National Anti-Corruption Commission, and what may result from signing a memorandum of understanding, contributes to facilitating the work of Lebanese companies and investors operating in Iraq."
