Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated that "Israel will continue its assault on the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Rafah after allowing civilians to evacuate the area in southern Gaza." Netanyahu added, "We will fight until complete victory, and this includes a strong move in Rafah as well after we allow the civilian population to leave the combat zones."
