An explosion of a diesel tank belonging to a cellular station in the Marah neighborhood of Hermel caused a fire in one of the homes in the area and injured two people. Lebanese Red Cross personnel worked to transport the injured to the hospital, while Civil Defense teams worked to extinguish the flames.
Later, Alfa Company clarified the circumstances of the fire: "A fire broke out this afternoon at the Hermel station during maintenance work carried out by the company responsible for these tasks, which led to the station being put out of service, and consequently, a disruption of service in several areas powered by the station."
It continued: "The maintenance work aims to strengthen the site to prevent fuel theft, as it has been subjected to sabotage and diesel theft multiple times. Alfa has immediately begun assessing the damages in preparation for the swift rehabilitation of the station. It apologizes to its subscribers for any inconvenience caused."
