Jumblatt: We Are in a Time That Could Redefine the Middle East

Lebanese Forces Party leader Samir Geagea affirmed that “no matter how significant the events happening around us may be, each of us, in addition to following their developments, must focus on completing our tasks to the best of our ability.” Geagea's remarks came during his meeting with a delegation of Lebanese Forces students at the University of Louaizeh in Maarab, following their election victory. Geagea noted, “We are in a situation that could redefine the characteristics of the Middle East differently than before, yet this does not prevent us from addressing every detail appropriately.” He addressed the students, saying: “You are living in less than ideal conditions today; do you wish to continue living under such circumstances? Or do you want to pass them on to your children? How can these situations change? The Lebanese spend a long time 'theorizing,' talking, criticizing, crying, and complaining, and the session ends here while they go to sleep from there, and as if God loves those who do good, wherever the matter starts with them, it ends; however, we as a group are not like that. The goal is to identify and describe the situation, to see what we can do to change this reality, and I want you to be confident that we can do it.”
