Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Abdullah Bohabib welcomed the Chinese-Saudi-Iranian trilateral statement today, Friday, and pointed out the positive impact that the agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran will have on the resumption of diplomatic relations between them. He noted that "Lebanon has always paid the price for regional disputes throughout its history and present, and thus, there is hope that this step will help strengthen the foundations of security and stability in the region, and promote constructive positive cooperation that will ultimately benefit the countries and peoples of the region and the world." Bohabib called for taking advantage of this opportunity to engage in Arab-Iranian dialogue based on respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs. He emphasized that "the best good neighborly relations are those principles agreed upon by the participants in the trilateral meetings in Beijing." The Minister also appreciated the efforts and good endeavors made by several countries, especially the Republic of Iraq and the Sultanate of Oman, leading up to the mediation of the People's Republic of China.
