Jihadist Organization Claims Responsibility for Explosion at Police Station in Damascus

Hours after the explosion that shook the police station in Barzeh, Damascus, resulting in the injury of one officer and four personnel, the "ISIS" organization stated in a message circulated on jihadist accounts via the Telegram app that "a security unit of the caliphate managed to plant and detonate an explosive device on a vehicle inside a police station in the Barzeh area." The Syrian Ministry of Interior clarified in a post on its official Facebook page that "a police vehicle exploded this morning within the precinct of the Barzeh police station in Damascus, leading to injuries of varying degrees among one officer and four personnel." The ministry confirmed that "forensic evidence and the Damascus Fire Brigade immediately arrived at the scene, and the injured were rushed to the hospital," noting that "investigations are still ongoing to uncover the circumstances of the incident."
