The current season of the English Premier League coincides with a concerning decline in the performance of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo with his club Manchester United. Ronaldo is heading towards an inevitable second exit from Old Trafford, following a second stint that seems disappointing at best, according to the Spanish sports newspaper "Marca."
While rumors suggest that the Portuguese star seeks to leave Manchester United during the winter transfer window, the team responds that this matter is not currently on the table. However, some are beginning to question Ronaldo's (37 years old) commitment to the club that turned him into an extraordinary global star many years ago.
These questions arose after criticism of the Portuguese star's performance in the recent period of the current season, culminating in Ronaldo leaving the pitch alone from the bench before the end of the match, an action seen as diminishing respect for his coach Erik ten Hag and his teammates.
Joining the ranks of Ronaldo's critics is former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney. Rooney stated, "One could say that he (Ronaldo) and Messi are the best players of all time... but I just think that the things he has done since the beginning of the season are unacceptable for Manchester United."
He added, "I saw Roy Keane defend him. Roy would never accept that at all." Rooney believes that Ronaldo's actions are causing confusion within Manchester United at a time when the club does not want any disruption in its rebuilding efforts. He advised Ronaldo to focus on playing and to be ready when the coach needs him.
