Minister Mawlawi Reviews Provincial Preparedness and Needs in Emergency Plan

On Monday, Interior and Municipalities Minister Bassam Mawlawi held a meeting in his office as part of the ongoing coordination meetings at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities, focusing on disaster and crisis management. The meeting was attended by UNDP Resident Representative Melanie Hoekstijn, as well as governors from various regions: Judge Marwan Abboud from Beirut, Judge Mohammed Makawi from Mount Lebanon, Judge Ramzi Nahra from the North, Judge Kamal Abou Joudeh from the Beqaa, Bashir Khadr from Baalbek-Hermel, and Imad Labaki from Akkar. The discussions centered on the readiness of the provinces and their needs.

During the meeting, Minister Mawlawi emphasized the "central role each governor plays in their area to meet needs and implement the plan set forth by the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities." Each governor provided a detailed review of their province's preparedness and needs amid current conditions and potential developments. Hoekstijn expressed the "UNDP's readiness to coordinate with other UN agencies operating in Lebanon to address all provincial needs."
