The leader in the Coordination Framework, Adi Abdul Hadi, commented today, Tuesday, on the recent repercussions, indicating that Erbil bears part of the responsibility. Abdul Hadi stated, "Despite all of Tehran's justifications for bombing targets in Erbil within the framework of defending its national security and external threats, it affects Iraqi sovereignty and creates a tense atmosphere that could lead to serious repercussions for Iraq." He added that "it would have been better for Tehran to cooperate with Baghdad to alleviate its security concerns."
He pointed out that "the undeniable truth is the repeated bombardments from Turkey and its daily violations, which have facilitated others' violations of Iraq's sovereignty and the bombing of targets." He emphasized, "Thus, all violations by neighboring countries must be stopped without exception, and efforts should be made to reassure them regarding security issues."
The leader in the Coordination Framework explained that "Erbil bears part of the recent events, especially since it behaves as if it is an independent state, conducting deals and alliances away from Baghdad, which has given a negative image prompting others to bomb the region." He highlighted "the necessity for the Kurdistan Region to realize that its true stability begins with strengthening its unity with Baghdad and preventing any dubious entities or organizations on its territory while making security affairs federal."
Earlier today, the Kurdistan Counter Terrorism Service announced the downing of three explosive drones that attempted to target Erbil International Airport. The service stated in a statement that "according to the information from Kurdistan Counter Terrorism, three explosive drones were destroyed that were sent to the military base of the international coalition against ISIS at Erbil International Airport this morning."
Meanwhile, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced its responsibility for the strikes that targeted Erbil, indicating that they came "in response to the crimes of the Zionist regime against the Islamic Republic, the latest of which was the killing of a number of Revolutionary Guard leaders by Zionist fire targeting a main Mossad intelligence site in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, which was destroyed by ballistic missiles."
