Kensington Palace reported today, Wednesday, that "Kate, the Princess of Wales and wife of Britain's Crown Prince William, underwent successful abdominal surgery and will remain in the hospital for up to two weeks." The statement noted that "Kate is expected to stay at London Clinic, a private hospital in the British capital, for a period of 10 to 14 days for treatment before returning to recover at home." A source from the palace stated that "her condition is not related to cancer." The statement added that "the Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will evoke... and wishes for the public to understand her desire to maintain as much normalcy as possible for her children, as well as her wish for her medical information to remain private." Her office indicated that it will not provide updates on her treatment progress unless there is "important new information to share." It was also added that she is unlikely to return to her public duties until after Easter. The princess was last seen publicly on Christmas Day during the royal family's annual visit to a church near King Charles's home in Sandringham, East England, to attend the service, with no indication that she was unwell.
