Abu Faour: The Presidency Does Not Seem Imminent Despite Active and Multiple Initiatives

Member of the "Democratic Gathering" bloc, MP Wael Abu Faour, affirmed that "the presidency does not seem imminent despite the active and multiple initiatives, which sometimes converge and sometimes diverge." Abu Faour stated during a meeting for branch directors in "Progressive" in the Southern Bekaa internal agency, attended by Internal Affairs official Aref Abu Mansour, representatives, and branch directors: "Logic suggests that there are no chances for any president who is not consensual, and everyone knows that. However, there is resistance to transitioning to a third alternative, and there is also no agreement on a scenario for everyone to step down from their high proposals." He added, "The Progressive Party will continue to call on everyone to prioritize the logic of a fair settlement, and it will also continue to carry out its educational, social, and health responsibilities towards Lebanese citizens to alleviate the severity of suffering, which cannot be addressed except by electing a president for the republic and following the path of simultaneous rescue and reform."
