The Iraqi ambassador to France, Wadi Batti, announced today, Thursday, that Iraq has secured the position of General Director of the Arab World Institute in Paris. Batti stated in a statement that “the president of the institute, Jack Lang, signed the appointment letter for Iraq’s candidate, the poet and writer Ahmed Shawqi Abdul Amir Al-Hamdani," noting "the significant efforts made by the Iraqi embassy in Paris under the continuous follow-up of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, and with the direct supervision of Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein, which resulted in complete Arab consensus on choosing Iraq’s candidate.” He expressed his "gratitude to the Dean and members of the Council of Arab Ambassadors in Paris for placing their trust in the Republic of Iraq’s candidate for this position," emphasizing that "Iraq will manage the institute for the first time since its establishment in the 1980s by former French President Jacques Chirac, which is overseen by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs."
