Two French Nationals Killed in Russian Attack in Southern Ukraine

The governor of the Kherson region in Ukraine and other officials reported that a Russian attack led to the deaths of two French volunteers on Thursday in the southern part of Ukraine. Kherson governor Oleksandr Prokudin stated that the Russian assault on the town of Berislav resulted in the deaths of the French citizens and injured three other foreigners. Public prosecutors in Kherson indicated that Russian forces launched a significant drone attack in the area around 4 p.m. The police reported that a Ukrainian citizen was also injured. Berislav is located on the western bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region, from which Russian forces withdrew in late 2022. Since then, Ukrainian forces have strengthened their positions on the eastern bank of the river, but Russian forces continue intensive shelling of other parts of the Kherson region from areas they control on the eastern bank.
