Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad: Tehran Has Never Considered Invading the Kurdistan Region

The Iranian ambassador to Iraq, Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadiq, confirmed that Tehran has never thought about invading the Kurdistan region of Iraq "despite all the American movements originating from the region against Iran."

Al-Sadiq pointed out that the recent disturbances within the country were directed by opposing elements in Erbil, adding that "Iranian intelligence agencies managed to dismantle a terrorist cell coming from Erbil aimed at executing a large-scale scheme."

He expressed his desire to visit the Kurdistan region of Iraq, stating: "We have historical relations with the Kurds and the Kurdistan region of Iraq."

On another note, Al-Sadiq spoke about the Iranian-Saudi negotiations that took place with Baghdad's hospitality, thanking the country for hosting five rounds of dialogue between Tehran and Riyadh, and emphasizing "Iraq's role as the link connecting the Islamic Republic of Iran with other Arab states."
