Defense Minister: We are Committed to the Role of UNIFIL, Especially in These Conditions

The National Defense Minister in the caretaker government, Maurice Sleem, emphasized during a call with his Dutch counterpart, Kajsa Ollongren, the importance of UNIFIL's work in the south, reaffirming Lebanon's commitment to its role especially in the current circumstances the region is facing. He also praised the ongoing cooperation and coordination between the army and UNIFIL, as well as the strong relationship that has been established between the local community and this force over the past decades. Sleem stressed that peace and stability cannot be achieved without a just and comprehensive peace and adherence to relevant international resolutions. For her part, Minister Ollongren emphasized the need to de-escalate tensions and the necessity for the international community to look towards achieving a two-state solution in the future.
