Pope Francis affirmed today, Sunday, that "war in itself is a crime against humanity," and reiterated his call for "peace in Ukraine and the Middle East." He said after the weekly prayer, "Let us not forget this... people need peace, the world needs peace." The Pope urged people during the prayer to "not forget the suffering caused by the cruelty of war in various parts of the world," and repeatedly called for "achieving peace in Ukraine and in the war in Gaza." He stated, "Let us pray that those who have power over these conflicts consider the fact that war is not the way to resolve them, as it sows death among civilians and destroys cities and infrastructure."
