Satterfield: No Indication of Iran and Its Agents Seeking to Pre-empt Conflict

U.S. Special Envoy for Humanitarian Affairs in the Middle East, David Satterfield, announced today, Thursday, that there are no signs that Iran or its agents in the region intend to hasten a conflict beyond the war between Israel and Hamas. However, he stated that it is essential for Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah not to engage in provocative actions, noting that the exchanges of fire with Hezbollah along the Israel-Lebanon border increase the likelihood of miscalculations. Satterfield said in an online press conference with journalists, "We do not believe that a conflict involving Lebanon and Israel is inevitable in any way... The reality here and now is that there are no indications from any side of an intent to pre-empt a conflict or war."
