The media office of Dar Al-Fatwa announced in a statement that the Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Daryan, "stands at an equal distance from all candidates for the elections of the Islamic Higher Council in Beirut and the Lebanese provinces. There is absolutely no truth to what some newspapers, known for distorting facts and lacking credibility, publish regarding Islamic affairs, including opinions, analyses, and alleged hypotheses crafted from imagination."
The office emphasized that Daryan "does not interfere in the formation of the electoral lists for the Islamic Higher Council nor supports one candidate over another with any party or forces active in the Lebanese arena. The formation of the electoral lists is the responsibility of the candidates, and the voting body alone chooses those it sees fit for membership in the Islamic Higher Council, which represents an elite segment of the Islamic community."
It affirmed that "the work of the Directorate General of Islamic Endowments, under the guidance of the Mufti of the Republic, is limited to preparing for the elections logistically and administratively, following up on them, and announcing the results through the specialized team. Mufti Daryan welcomes all winners who will form a cohesive team to serve the Islamic community and its waqf, charitable, educational, social, health, and pastoral institutions as outlined in legislative decree No. 18 and its amendments."
