Today, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs expressed concern over the escalating fighting in Khan Younis, which has forced more Palestinians to flee to Rafah in southern Gaza. The border city was described as a "pressure cooker filled with despair." Spokesperson Jens Laerke emphasized, "We are deeply concerned about the escalation of hostilities in Khan Younis, which has resulted in an increase in the number of internally displaced persons seeking refuge in Rafah over the past few days." He added, "Thousands of Palestinians continue to flee to the south, which is already hosting more than half of the population of around 2.3 million... Rafah is like a pressure cooker filled with despair, and we fear what will happen next."
