Kidnapping of a Group of Nuns in Haiti

The Union of Religious Communities in Haiti announced the kidnapping of 8 individuals, including 6 nuns, yesterday Friday in the capital, Port-au-Prince, amid a continued rise in kidnapping crimes in the country. A spokesman for the Haitian religious conference stated that an armed group abducted the nuns around 7 AM while they were traveling to the educational institutions where they work. In recent weeks, kidnapping incidents have increased, targeting both well-known individuals and ordinary people in Port-au-Prince and on some national roads.
