The Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture reported today, Friday, that "nearly half of the country's regions have started spring planting activities for the 2024 season, with spring wheat, peas, barley, and oats being sown in over 168,000 acres." The ministry did not provide planting plans for this year. Last month, it stated that farmers are expected to reduce the area planted with corn by nine percent year-on-year. Ukraine is a major global producer of grains and oilseeds; however, its crop yields have declined since the Russian invasion, which occupied large areas of its territory. Ukrainian farmers planted spring crop seeds in over 31 million acres during the last season.
