Meeting Between the U.S. and Panama to Prevent Ships from Evading Iran Sanctions

A U.S. State Department official revealed on Wednesday that "U.S. officials will meet with officials from the Panamanian government to ensure that Panamanian-flagged ships are not transporting Iranian oil in violation of U.S. sanctions against Iran." Special Envoy for Iran Deputy Abram Paley stated that "the United States will ask Panama to remove its flag from ships associated with Iran after identifying six ships potentially violating these sanctions since January."
