The new US ambassador, Lisa Johnson, arrived in Lebanon. Upon her arrival, Johnson stated, "I am pleased to return to Lebanon to lead the US embassy in Beirut, where I previously worked from 2002 to 2004." She acknowledged that "this is a difficult time," emphasizing her appreciation for the importance of the challenges Lebanon faces, while also expressing a deep admiration for the vitality of the Lebanese people and her confidence in Lebanon's ability to succeed. The US ambassador stressed that "it is time for Lebanon to find a sense of unity and purpose in the common desire of all its people for peace and prosperity and a brighter future." Ambassador Johnson was previously the US ambassador to Namibia and held leadership positions in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs at the State Department in Washington.
