Russian news agency reported that Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, stated that "Russia has requested a UN Security Council meeting following the airstrikes that occurred today, Saturday, in Belgorod city near the border with Ukraine." The agency quoted Zakharova as saying, "The terrorist attack in Belgorod will be the subject of actions in the UN Security Council. Russia has requested a Security Council meeting." The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the Ukrainian attack resulted in 18 deaths and 111 injuries. The governor of Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, indicated today that "two children were killed and several others were injured in a Ukrainian raid on the central area." Gladkov added that "a residential area was also shelled," urging all residents to head to shelters upon hearing the sound of sirens due to airstrikes. The Belgorod region, adjoining Ukraine's northern border, has faced shelling and drone attacks throughout the year, with authorities blaming Kyiv for these incidents.
