The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (Ingv) reported that an earthquake with a magnitude of about 4 occurred this Wednesday morning in the Calabria region of southern Italy. A statement from the institute indicated that the strongest tremor was recorded at 7:49 AM local time, with a magnitude ranging between 3.6 and 4.1. The epicenter was near the town of Samo, at a depth of 14 kilometers.
Paolo Politano, the mayor of Samo, stated in an interview with "RaiNews24" that many residents were in a state of panic at the moment of the quake, adding, "There was a rather strong shock. People left their homes in fear and are still on the streets now." He confirmed that there is currently no information regarding any damage caused by the earthquake, noting that representatives from technical services are currently inspecting the city's facilities, and local schools have been closed.
