Minister of Foreign Affairs in the caretaker government, Abdallah Bou Habib, concluded his participation in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York with a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. The two ministers exchanged ideas on the necessity of ending the presidential vacancy and recent regional developments, particularly efforts to resolve the Yemen crisis.
Bou Habib also met with Greek Foreign Minister Georgios Gerapetridis, who expressed understanding regarding the issue of displacement and readiness to enhance coordination and cooperation with Lebanon and other countries affected by the consequences of displacement. Steps for coordination will continue at the annual conference scheduled to be held in Rome in early November for Mediterranean countries.
Following this, Bou Habib participated in the ministerial meeting of donor countries for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), where he emphasized the importance of addressing the agency's funding gap, as it serves an international interest in preventing the worsening of problems faced by the region, including the burdens of refugee influx on Lebanon.
Bou Habib concluded his visit to New York by attending a reception and dinner hosted by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in honor of VIPs on the occasion of Saudi National Day.
