U.S. Approves Plans for Strikes in Iraq and Syria to Last Several Days

CBS News reported today, Thursday, citing U.S. officials, that Washington has approved plans to launch attacks over several days in Iraq and Syria targeting various sites, including Iranian military personnel and facilities. President Joe Biden stated on Tuesday that he had made his decision on how to respond to a drone attack in northeastern Jordan near the Syrian border this week, which resulted in the deaths of three U.S. soldiers and injuries to more than 40. The United States blamed Iranian-aligned factions for the drone attack. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated on Monday that the U.S. response "could come at multiple levels, and occur in phases, and last for a period." The network did not provide details in its report regarding what the U.S. approval means in terms of the timeline for the strikes.
