Iranian Navy Commander Shahram Irani announced that a joint naval exercise between Iran, Russia, and China will take place next month to ensure the security of the region. Irani stated in press remarks that "other countries have been invited to participate in these maneuvers." He considered that "the most important strategy for the Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the current situation is to maintain and protect the economic interests and resources of the Islamic regime and the people."
Irani added, "These maneuvers are being conducted to secure the region and mutual interests... by accompanying Iranian ships at sea, we protect the maritime shipping of the Islamic Republic of Iran and assist countries that need support to ensure security and safety." The naval commander further mentioned that "it is planned, with the support of the Ministry of Defense and the armed forces, for several ships to join the naval fleet by the end of this Iranian year."
