The Attorney General of New York is seeking to fine former President Donald Trump $370 million in damages in a fraud case that involves allegations of the real estate mogul inflating the value of his properties, according to court documents released on Friday. Trump, along with his older sons, is accused of fraudulently inflating the value of real estate assets to obtain bank loans and insurance terms.
The civil fraud trial is one of several legal battles Trump faces as he attempts to regain the presidency, and he appeared in a New York court as part of this case, where he and his sons Donald Jr. and Eric have been testifying since October. Trump launched a new attack against Judge Letitia James, an African American Democratic judge, accusing her of "corruption" and leading a campaign of "persecution" against him, insisting that "I did nothing wrong."
Although Trump does not face the possibility of jail time in this civil case, the trajectory of the case is working against his interests.
