UN: An Israeli Attack on Rafah Must Not Be Allowed

The United Nations Human Rights Office stated today, Friday, that an Israeli attack on the border city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip must not be allowed as it would cause devastating loss of life. Human Rights Office spokesman Jeremy Laurence said, "If Israel conducts its military operation in Rafah, where 1.5 million people are taking refuge in unfortunate and inhumane conditions, any ground assault on Rafah would result in significant loss of life and increase the risk of further atrocities." He added, "This must not be allowed to happen."
