U.S. Imposes Sanctions on Iranian Central Bank Subsidiary

The U.S. Treasury Department's website indicated that "Washington has issued new sanctions related to Iran today, Wednesday." The announcement listed the names of companies and individuals, including the Informatics Services Company "I.S.C." affiliated with the Iranian Central Bank and based in Iran, Advanced Banking Solution Trading based in the UAE, which operates as a front for the aforementioned company, Freedom Star General Trading based in the UAE, and TID for Technology, Industry and Trade Development based in Turkey. U.S. Treasury Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian Nelson stated: "The Iranian Central Bank has played a crucial role in providing financial support to the Quds Force, part of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and Hezbollah. Both contribute to deepening instability in the Middle East."
