The emergency Arab and Islamic summit held in Riyadh today condemned the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the war crimes and brutal, inhumane massacres committed by the occupying colonial government. In its final statement, the summit called on all countries to "stop exporting weapons and ammunition to Israel," and also urged for "lifting the blockade on Gaza and allowing the entry of Arab, Islamic, and international humanitarian aid convoys." The Arab and Islamic summit rejected the characterization of "this retaliatory war as self-defense or justifying it under any pretext."
The Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation were originally supposed to hold two separate summits on Saturday and Sunday; however, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced early on Saturday the holding of an "extraordinary joint Arab-Islamic summit." Some countries, including Algeria and Lebanon, proposed a draft resolution that includes a threat to cut oil supplies to Israel and its Western allies, as well as severing the diplomatic and economic relations that some Arab countries have with Israel.
