Social media is circulating a video about an armed attack on the convoy of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas by unknown individuals, along with reports of injuries to his escort. However, a source in Abbas's administration denied these reports. According to the Russian news agency "Novosti", the source stated that claims regarding gunfire at Abbas's convoy are not true, emphasizing, "This is not correct. There was no gunfire at Abbas's convoy."
The source explained that the circulated video refers to an incident at the Jalazone refugee camp involving security forces and a wanted individual for criminal cases. Israeli police spokesperson Elior Levy commented that the situation involved a security pursuit of a wanted person. He stated, "Let's close the case of Abu Mazen and the alleged assassination attempt: a knowledgeable Palestinian source told me that Palestinian security forces conducted an arrest operation against a drug dealer, which led to an exchange of gunfire, while Abu Mazen's convoy passed nearby without incident."
