As the date for the provincial council elections approaches on November 18, the Diyala Operations Command of the Popular Mobilization Forces has started to implement a comprehensive strategy to secure the liberated cities and towns, creating a stable atmosphere that encourages residents to participate and cast their votes without any concerns or fears.
Popular Mobilization Forces leader Sadiq Al-Husseini confirmed that "the Popular Mobilization Forces will participate in 13 sectors within the Diyala Operations as part of the election security plan, in coordination with the province's operations command according to agreed mechanisms, with activities managed through a higher operations room to coordinate security duties and orders."
He added that "the Popular Mobilization Forces will rely on the principle of fire lines, which is a strategy of direct pressure through security operations and searches deep within the surroundings of cities and towns based on intelligence information to ensure maximum security for all sectors without exception."
He noted that "ISIS is on its last breaths, with only fleeing and hiding remnants remaining in remote areas being targeted periodically through intelligence efforts coordinated with air power," pointing out that "more than 40 terrorists, including 9 leaders, have been eliminated during 2023."
He continued, stating that "the security situation in the liberated areas is stable and secure, with the efforts of the Popular Mobilization Forces focused on increasing the sense of reassurance for residents to give them a greater opportunity to participate."
